We currently have an opportunity for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join a New Zealand company in Matamata, Waikato. The candidate must be able to:
- Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul trucks, tractors, trailers, agricultural implement equipment and company vehicles or maintain and repair any type of diesel engine.
- Undertake mechanical repairs and scheduled maintenance work on a fleet of vehicles and equipment to a high standard as directed by the Managing Director(s)
Abilities to perform the following tasks are also expected:
- Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists
- Adjust and reline brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment
- Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
- Test drive trucks and tractors to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly
- Recondition and replace parts, pistons, bearings, gears, and valves
- Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels
- Align front ends and suspension systems
- Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical
- Vehicles are routinely maintained to ensure the safety and prevent breakdowns
- Vehicles and Equipment are only off the road for the minimal time possible
- All repair and maintenance work undertaken is to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Displays a “can do attitude: to all undertakings in the workshop, contributing to a good flow of work.

- Disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units
- Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems
