Skilled workers needed to assist with housing construction

The New Zealand Government has been announcing a major house building programme to address the country's housing shortage. As employers are struggling to find the right talents and skills in sufficient numbers within the nation's available workforce, they are having to turn to overseas talents to fill the gap, and the trend for 2018 is looking very good for those wanting to make the move to New Zealand.

Seven building-related occupations have been added to the Immediate Skill Shortage List (ISSL) so that developers can recruit more easily from overseas, including:

  • plumber,
  • roof tiler,
  • fibrous plasterer
  • carpenter
  • joiner
